Grammy Jazz 2021 – nominacje

Joshua Redman, Gerald Clayton i Chick Corea wśród jazzowych nominantów do nagród Grammy

Ogłoszone zostały nominacje do przyszłorocznych nagród Grammy. W kategoriach jazzowych po dwie nominacje otrzymali saksofonista Joshua Redman oraz pianiści Gerald Clayton i Chick Corea, każdy z nich w kategorii Najlepsze Improwizowane Solo Jazzowe oraz Najlepszy Jazzowy Album Instrumentalny. Po dwie nominacje otrzymali również basista Chrisian McBride i perkusista Brian Blade jako członkowie zespołów Redmana i Corei.

W głównych kategoriach jazzowych nominacje otrzymali m.in. trębacz Ambrose Akinmusire, perkusistka Terri Lyne Carrington, skrzypaczka Regina Carter, wolakiści Kurt Elling i Carmen Lundy.

Kilku artystów jazzowych zostało nominowanych w kategoriach innych gatunków muzycznych. Album wokalisty Gregory’ego Portera „All Rise” otrzymał nominację w kategorii Best R & B Album, Roberta Glaspera „F*** Yo Feelings” w kategorii Best Progressive R & B Album. Multiinstrumentalista i wokalista Jacob Collier otrzymał aż trzy nominacje, m.in. w kategorii Album of the Year za „Djesse Vol.3”. Alan Broadbent i Pat Metheny zostali nominowani w kategorii Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals w utworze Metheny’ego „From This Place”. Kamasi Wshington otrzymał nominację w kategorii Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media (w dokumencie Michelle Obamy „Becoming”).

63. doroczna gala rozdania nagród Grammy odbędzie się 31 stycznia 2021 roku w Los Angeles. Format uroczystości jeszcze nie został ustalony.
