Zestawem największych przebojów Louisa Armstronga wystartowała (26 sierpnia) seria „EMPiK Jazz Club”. 25 podwójnych CD-albumów, ponad 2 godziny muzyki, premiery co dwa tygodnie, sprzedaż tylko w sieci salonów EMPiK.
W serii ukażą się następujące albumy: Miles Davis (premiera 9 września), John Coltrane (23.09), Billie Holiday, Stan Getz, Ella Fitzgerald, Quincy Jones, John Scofield, Charlie Parker, Matt Dusk, John McLaughlin, B.B.King, Chick Corea, D.D. Bridgewater, Sergio Mendes, Chet Baker, Wayne Shorter, Paco De Lucia, Nina Simone oraz ważne nagrania polskiego jazzu: Krzyszofa Komedy ( po raz pierwszy publikowane koncertowe sesje radiowe i festiwalowe), autorskie zestawy przygotowane i wybrane przez Leszka Możdżera, trio Marcina Wasilewskiego, Pink Freud oraz Marcina Nowakowskiego.
„Najtrudniejszy był dla mnie wybór tych niekwestionowanych osobowości jazzu oraz, co także ważne nagrań – mówi Dionizy Piątkowski, producent i autor wyboru. Czy zaprezentować artystę niezwykłego, wybitnego, ale elitarnego, czy raczej znanego i popularnego? Czy silić się na zestaw nagrań trudnych, artystycznie wysublimowanych, czy raczej pójść drogą jazzowego przeboju i popularnego standardu? Chyba najlepszym rozwiązaniem okazał się „złoty środek”, czyli używając języka jazzowego – mainstream. Bo to nie jest kolekcja stanowiąca przecież kolejną historię jazzu, ale najprzedniejszy zestaw wspaniałych nagrań, znanych kompozycji i niezapomnianych interpretacji”.
